Ellis Fields
Brief: An open brief allowed for suggestions using new materials and a dramatic feature design. The final design included feature planting which could be removed when the client moved house. A 2m wide water feature built into the slate wall to replicate a natural outcrop. Slate `dry stone’ walling mortared together with raked out joints was used as retaining walls. The build required the removal of over 80 tonnes of soil and replacement of the remaining impoverished soil throughout the planted areas. Recessed lighting installed in the lawn to highlight the wall faces and around the garden picking out specimen plants..
